BITS: Brunswick for Intentional Technology in Schools
Technology in our schools should be used with care: where it truly helps children learn, and not simply by default.
BITS is a community of Brunswick parents, educators and neighbors. We believe children learn best through attention, conversation, movement and hands-on work, and that screens should support that learning rather than replace it. We work with teachers, school leaders and families to make thoughtful, evidence-based choices together.

Learning comes first
Every device, app and platform in a classroom should earn its place by clearly helping children learn. When a book, a pencil or a conversation works better, choose it.

Evidence over hype
Decisions about classroom technology should rest on research and teachers' professional judgment, not marketing or momentum.

The right tool at the right age
Young children need hands, voices, paper and play. Screen use should grow gradually and deliberately as students do.

Phone-free school days
From the first bell to the last, so attention, friendships and recess can happen in person.

Open doors for families
Families should know which platforms their children use, how much of the school day is spent on screens, and what data is collected.
